Foldable Phones Finally Grow Up

After years of fragile hinges and eye-watering price tags, the foldable phone is finally becoming a sensible purchase. The latest generation bends flat without a visible crease, survives thousands of folds in testing, and — crucially — costs far less than the first attempts.

The appeal is simple: a phone that opens into something closer to a small tablet. Reading long articles, editing documents and watching films all feel easier with the extra screen, and the devices now close tightly enough to slip into a pocket like any other handset.

Sceptics will note the software still occasionally stumbles, with apps that refuse to stretch across the wider display. But the direction is clear. Foldables have moved from an expensive experiment to a genuine choice — and the standard slab phone may finally have real competition.
